People Need Job Interview Skills!

jobToastmasters Help Unemployed Practice Interview Skills!

District 2 Toastmasters Clubs are holding an event called JobMasterPlus (SpeechCraft for the Unemployed) on four consecutive Wednesdays in May from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at Ballard Baptist Church beginning May 6th.

People Need Job Interview Skills! JobMasterPlus is a four-week program that includes a speech manual, helpful handouts, friendly feedback, guided instruction, and lots of practice. The $30 fee includes all of the above and it can be applied to your six month membership fee to 21st Century Toastmasters Club (transferable).

JobMasterPlus is aimed at helping people practice answering interviewers’ questions, and giving their personal job skills commercial along with crafting slightly longer job related presentations. With the economic downturn, many who are laid off, or under threat of it, are desperate to sharpen their job interview and public speaking skills.

Toastmasters, a group whose primary emphasis is in developing communication and leadership skills, is uniquely qualified to assist people who want to practice their interview skills in a live setting.  Such practice helps them “break the ice” with an interviewer and to focus their responses on their talents.  It gives them confidence in real speaking situations, helps them find their best personal marketing pitch, and provides encouraging feedback.

Since its founding in 1924, Toastmasters International has helped four million men and women develop their communication and leadership skills. Because a growing number of people realize the importance of communication skills for career advancement, Toastmasters International has doubled its membership in the last 10 years. The organization now has approximately 226,000 members in 11,500 clubs in 91 countries. To find a club near you visit http://d2tm.org.

Participants should bring writing materials and their resume or job qualifications list. Ballard Baptist Church is located at 2004 NW 63rd. Registration will begin at 1:00pm. For more information call Toastmaster’s District Governor Michael Sun at (425) 865-9999.
