John Spaith

"Do you think Toastmasters rocks?" asks John Spaith. "I bet you do!"

If we rock, then why do 40% of our members quit every year? How is it that there are DTM's that are mediocre speakers at best? It's so common to envision the VPE pulling his hair out for lack of member commitment that it's become cliche!

Toastmasters has been an overwhelming positive force in John Spaith's life; and he believes from the bottom of his heart that Toastmasters rocks! However, in his presentation titled, "Betting Against The House: Stupid Mistakes Toastmasters Make" John will illustrate how Toastmasters make a lot of silly, systemic, downright stupid mistakes!

John's presentation will be a no nonsense course describing how we as Toastmasters screw up everything from leadership to marketing to evaluations. He'll provide exercises to help us make easy adjustments that can yield dramatic improvements. He will address topics such as:

  • The podium versus lectern neurosis
  • Why Fred Flinstone should not be your role model, but probably is
  • The fallacy of the telepathic losers

John Spaith
has been a Toastmaster for almost 7 years. He has served in every Club Officer position; and as an Area Governor. John won the 2005 District 2 Evaluation Contest; and has had 4 articles published in the Toastmaster Magazine. Mr Spaith is an ATM-S, CL.
