Join us for the 2023 Leaders Breakfast and learn to create Moments that Matter in your life and in the lives of those that we reach through Toastmasters!
The breakfast training will be in-person at the Embassy Suites hotel in Bellevue on Saturday, February 4th, 2023. Doors open at 8:30 am PT.

There are many different reasons to attend, and everyone has their own ‘why’ for participating in Leaders Breakfast. Whether you’ve been in Toastmasters for a week, a month, a year, or a decade, there’s something for everyone at Leaders’ Breakfast.
Whether you hold an officer position or just want to learn more about the subject of leadership in general, we’ve got the perfect lineup for you!
Every Toastmaster in District 2 is welcome to attend this event! You do not have to be a current officer in Toastmasters to attend.
This is an official Toastmasters Leadership Institute training event. If you are a current club officer, come to Leaders Breakfast to fulfill your officer training for the second half of the year and get credit toward the Distinguished Club Program officer training goal. Also towards the Super 7 incentive.
As the first in-person Leaders Breakfast in 3 years, this is a great opportunity to connect with other Toastmasters in the District! There’s sure to be a lot of great laughter, new connections forged, and reunions with friends that you may not have seen in-person recently. “Leadership and the Gift of Conflict”
James employs a decidedly multi-disciplinary approach resulting from broad-based experience as an executive in business, non-profit, and government, including being appointed by the White House to oversee the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In his dual role as the Regional Director for the Pacific Northwest and a Deputy in the Office of the Secretary, he split his time between Seattle and D.C. and managing staff across the nation.
James has also held positions on many local, statewide, and national boards of directors – including the founding board for Leadership Eastside where he subsequently served as CEO for ten years and helped develop a Masters Degree in Executive and Civic Leadership.
James has studied health care policy at Harvard; has a TEDx Talk called “Defining Equity. Pursuing Unity.”; is the author of the hospital patient guide, “Just What the Patient Ordered”; and is co-founder of Nourishing Networks, a local all-volunteer anti-hunger movement. He has received numerous accolades for his public speaking, training, and civic engagement work.
James has been married to his wife and business partner, Kristen Whitfield, since 1992. They have two adult children together who are their undisputed pride and joy.
James and Kristen are currently co-authoring a book about the Five Universal Leadership Questions at the Root of DEI Success.

After his career as a genetics scientist, Peter directed over 20 short films in addition to creating his Conquer Any Fear seminars and workshops in Seattle. His mission is to share stories that show the triumph of the human spirit: overcoming countless obstacles, struggles, and trials – to help you become the hero you were created to be.

Benny has been a Toastmaster and member of Conservatively Speaking for over four years. He has served as Club President for two years, Sergeant at Arms, and is currently Vice President Education. He has completed the Motivational Strategies pathway, and is currently working on Effective Coaching. In addition, Benny is also a member of the advanced club Leading Edge.*++

“A Vision, a Movie and a Message”
Aletta Rochat, DTM, of Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa, is a professional speaker, trainer, and author. She owns Voicing your Potential, a company she founded in 2010. She is Co-Founder of Interview Survival Guide, founded in 2020.
A Toastmaster since 2008, Rochat is a member of Cape Town Toastmasters. She has held a number of high-profile leadership positions within Toastmasters and has attained the level of DTM.
As an officer of the Toastmasters International Board of Directors, Rochat is a “working ambassador” for the organization. She works with the Board to develop, support, and modify the policies and procedures that guide Toastmasters International in fulfilling its mission.
